CASE
STUDY - Successful Japanese Adaptation
In a past project, Bodeux International LLC worked as localization lead for an international software company to adapt its software product for the Japanese market place.
After meeting with the client contacts and identifying their specific needs, Eve Bodeux, principal of Bodeux International LLC, created a project plan and showed the client which tasks they could efficiently accomplish on their own and which made more sense to subcontract. Eve worked with the client team and selected internationalization specialists to map out the stages of the localization project, including technical preparation tasks, linguistic tasks and engineering tasks.
In addition, she identified a core team of Japanese linguistic with over 5 years of experience in software localization who telecommuted and cooperated with local client contacts as well as client representatives in Japan.
The rates she was able to negotiate for these services allowed the client to access top-notch technical translators for this project while saving the additional markup a localization agency would charge. Such vendors are sourced by Bodeux International LLC from around the world. Additionally, client teams needed access to local linguistic resources as well for tasks such as on-site software testing. Eve’s network of resources allowed her to identify and successfully negotiate with a local professional resource in this niche market.
In addition to linguistic resources, this project required expertise in international graphic design and multilingual desktop publishing. Accessing the network she has built over
10 years in the industry, Eve brought specialists to the team with expertise in these hard-to-source areas. Asian desktop publishing can be particularly difficult to outsource and it is crucial to have the knowledge to recruit professional individuals for this task.
The final deliverables for this project resulted in accolades from the Japan-based client reviewers for impressive quality and an on-time delivery date, quite an accomplishment in the software world!
